The new system GTC from Continental allows saving up to 25% of fuel in the petrol engines.
This development was made by Continental Company together with Schaeffler and Ford. It represents 48-volt hybrid propulsion system of the new generation Gasoline Technology Car II (GTC II). The main difference of the new hybrid system, which leads it to the next generation of hybrid propulsion systems, is an increased fuel economy. GTC II allows saving up to 25% of fuel, while the usual systems of the first generations reduced its consumption by 17%.
The new system can work in the mode of engine starting, stop&go and recuperation of braking energy before the car completely stops. The electric traction with hyundai santa fe hid headlights can drive the car at low speeds for a while. This is achieved through the constructive innovation in the hybrid system. The electric motor, acting as generator, is located on the clutch crankcase.
The connection of the output shaft of the gearbox is provided by the belt drive, while the drive itself allows the electric motor to work with and without ICE and with the clutch disengaged.
